About · Trailhead

Trailhead Circle writes up the walks we actually do on weekends, with the boring details left in: which train, how much water, where the shade ends and when we turn around.

We are a small group of people who walk on Saturdays and, when the light is long enough, on Sundays too. Almost everything we do starts at a station rather than a car park, because most of us do not own a car and the ranges around Barcelona are unusually generous about that. A walk that begins with a ticket and ends with a cold drink at a platform bar feels like the natural shape of a weekend here.

The notes on this site are the ones we write for each other the evening after a walk, tidied up a little. They cover the things that decide whether a day goes well: where the last reliable water is, how long the exposed section really takes in July, which junction is signed badly, and what the descent looks like when you are tired. Scenery gets a sentence. Logistics get a paragraph.

Nothing here is a recommendation to walk anything. Conditions change, waymarking gets repainted, springs dry up and timetables shift twice a year. Treat every number as our number on our day, check it against a current map and a current forecast, and be the kind of walker who is happy to turn around at eleven in the morning with the summit still ahead.
